Not all of our guests are here on vacation just “larking about,” as host Mark likes to say. In fact, many of our guests choose to stay with us because we provide a comfortable, homey and private environment for those who are here for difficult personal reasons. We have hosted sisters from North Carolina who came to Florence to put their dad in the local Veteran’s Home; a gentleman from the East Coast who came to be at his dying father’s bedside; an older couple on an extended stay while moving the woman’s 91-year-old mother into a nursing home and closing up her house; and, yes, quite a few guests have stayed with us while visiting an incarcerated family member. If our guests need privacy for quiet reflection, we leave them alone; if they prefer to be in friendly company, we provide chit-chat, tea and sympathy – and maybe a glass of wine.

Other services we offer are:

• “Breakfast-in-a-Bag” © for guests who need to leave early;
• Dinner with us for solo travelers who would rather not eat alone in a restaurant;
• Picnic lunches;
• And a pleasant atmosphere for family get-togethers – we have had guests’ near-by relatives join us for breakfast, guests’ elderly parents spend a day here for mini-reunions, and even have hosted a bride’s last “sleep over” with her little son before she tied the knot the next day.
